Wedding photography and planning

Answers to get you ready for the big day.

Q&A

I’ve rounded up below a variety of questions I typically receive to get you going.  If I’ve missed something you’re pondering over,  pop it over on the contact page.

How many photo images can I expect to receive?

This depends on the duration of your booking, opportunities on the day and what sort of wedding you are having.   Regardless of how many photos I take, I will of course edit and finish them to my high standards,  usually finishing up with around 350-400 interesting images for you.  I’d be worried about photographers who promise up to and over 600 images – more is not a sign of quality.

How can I stop feeling nervous and self-conscious about my wedding photography?

I’m not keen on being in front of the camera either!  Hey, don’t let this spoil your day, most of your wedding photos will be taken without you even realising which you’re having fun. A friendly and confident photographer like me makes the process relaxed and fun. Your wedding photos will look beautiful and natural because you will feel comfortable in front of the camera and the person behind it. If you still feel unsure,  I would suggest a pre-wedding shoot to get used to being in front of the camera and what to expect on the big day.

How many group and family photos can we have?

It’s really your choice,  you may not want any, but I strongly discourage more than 10 group shots.  Group photos simply take time to arrange and you may not wish to spend so much of it standing around for formal photos – it can be quite boring for you!  I’ll be sure to capture the majority of your guests informally through the day, so don’t feel like you’ll be missing out.

What if it rains during our wedding?

All photography equipment used is weather proof so photography doesn’t need to stop, and I’m more than happy to jump into the rain if you are!  I always make the most of the day and find the best locations in your venue, rather than make excuses. With a few lighting tricks a dull rainy day can be made into a lovely dramatic shot.

Can you make me look slimmer, taller, and just look better?

I  aim not to make anyone look fake in their wedding photos.  I want to give clients a natural representation of themselves that will not disappoint in years to come.   For your portraits,  I may apply some retouching but it’s really a light touch here and there.

Are you able to visit the venue with us before the wedding?

I am probably already familiar with your venue so just ask. Regardless, every shoot is different,  and the day is shot as it happens rather than looking to regiment the locations and specific spots to shoot in. If you want to meet at the venue then it can be arranged, but don’t feel it is essential.  I always allocate additional time on the day to arrive early and scout the venue for ideas if I’m new there.

How much is it book and how do we go about it?

Head over to the Contact page and get in touch with your requirements.  All my prices are upfront on the website and to secure a date I will ask for a £200 deposit when I send you a booking form and contract.

Can we still plan our wedding without meeting you?”

Everyone is super busy these days right?   We live in modern times and there are many ways to hook up if not in person.   To be honest,  very few of my clients meet me before the wedding day and it has never made their wedding coverage any less productive.  We’ll of course make time to lock down the schedule and expectations ahead of the day either way.

Do you use special photography equipment?

I upgrade core photography kit regularly to ensure it is always ahead of the curve. Currently,  the Sony A7RIV and A9 are my cameras of choice (these cameras allow me to shoot completely silenty).  These are top of the range cameras for professional photography which I use together with a full range of the best G and Zeiss lenses. You can be sure to receive all the benefits of modern photography tech.

Do you shoot photography on film or just digital?

Everyone shoots digital at weddings these days. Digital because it provides the flexibility needed by clients, and works better in more situations than a film camera. A film photographer would also charge you a packet in print fees alone – plus there is no real concept of ‘copyright free’.

How long does it take to get my wedding photography or wedding album?

I will complete production and ship your wedding photography back to you within 3 weeks in most instances.  I’m not one of these photographers who take 2-3 months !   If you ordered an album, the creation, printing and delivery takes around 4 weeks after you have chosen your images.

In which format do I receive my pictures?

All photography is shot and produced using the professional camera RAW format. You are provided with the final images in the JPEG format for ease of use. The resolution of each picture is up to 60mp meaning you can really see huge levels of detail and print to small or large sizes with highest quality.   The images can be found on your supplied USB or downloaded from your own online gallery.

What areas do you cover in your work?

I’m a specialist Kent wedding photographer,  there’s a big clue in there 🙂   However,  that’s not exclusive and I also work in Surrey and London wedding venues.

Do you work on your own or with an assistant on the wedding day?

Another photographer just gets in the way of me and you.  I believe an advantage to working alone is that I maintain creative vision right through the process so you can be sure of consistency in the photography provided to you.

What happens if you are sick or can’t make it on the wedding day?

Quite simply put, your money would be refunded in full and fellow photographers contacted to help you find someone available.

I’ve checked out your photography packages but would like to make some changes, can I?

On the Product page you can find popular packages which fit 95% of client needs. That said, packages are only there as guides, so if you require a more bespoke package at a great price then that is no problem. Get in touch with what you would like.

When is the best time to book you as my wedding photographer?

Most weddings are at weekends and only one wedding is covered on any date. You need to get in touch as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. Popular dates around August in particular, should be booked well in advance to ensure availability.

My wedding is on a weekday, can I get a discount on pricing?

If your wedding is Mon-Thu you can enjoy a 5% discount on package prices.

Are you fully insured?

Lovepear Photography is fully insured with professional indemnity and public liability cover.
