Married at The Orangery in Maidstone

Beautiful wedding days at The Orangery Turkey Mill in Maidstone

By Weddings No Comments

A popular wedding venue in Kent is the Orangery, especially if you’re after landscaped gardens complete with lake and tumbling waterfall.  The opportunities for wedding photography at The Orangery makes this place one of my favourites in Maidstone.

Couple: Molly and Harry

Ceremony and reception: The Orangery, Turkey Court, Turkey Mill, Ashford Road, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 5PP

If you’re a bride who fancies a really memorable walk down the isle,  The Orangery is the place to get hitched.   I’m not sure I can think of another venue where the bride gets to walk across a cute bridge above the river Len to meet her husband to be.

Molly’s transformation into a bride on this morning was amazing,  so no surprise that Harry let the tears rip when he caught sight of her.   I didn’t have to give much direction to this couple with the photos that followed ,  they had such genuine love for each other the photography was effortless.

The ceremony took place inside The Garden Room which looks out over the landscaped gardens.   While the guests enjoyed their drinks out on the lawn,  I took Molly and Harry off to explore the grounds and take the romantic portraits they wanted.  There are so many delightful photo settings to explore here the more time you allocate for your bridge and groom portraits the better.

Adjacent to the Garden Room ,  the evening reception then begun with the indoor meal and entertainment in what is a nice and cosy environment, before photography concluded as everyone took to the dancefloor to bust their moves.

During the best man speeches there where a lot of jokes about baked beans directed at Harry – I never did find out what that was all about…  luckily the reception meal took no inspiration.

Molly and Harry booked in for all day photography which provided coverage from bridal preps right through to the first dances.   They received a memorable collection of with just over 600 images.  Here are some favourites:

Wedding photos at Winters Barns

A summer wedding at Winters Barns in Canterbury

By Weddings No Comments

Winters Barns is one of my favourite wedding venues for photography.  The grounds are a popular go-to for engaged couples from across the Kent region.

For outdoor weddings in particular, the courtyard and gardens are sure to prove enticing and welcoming.

Couple: Angharad and Glenn.

Ceremony and reception: Winters Barns, Winters Farm, Nackington Road, Canterbury, Kent CT4 7AY

Time to rewind a few years to this enchanting wedding with the fabulous Mr and Mrs Moynes.

I arrived to blazing sunshine perfect for the outdoor ceremony before heading round to the private cottages and salon where Angharad and Glenn were getting prepared.

Unlike most weddings, having the bride and groom getting ready within a short walk of each other meant I could photograph both parties rather than just bridal preps.

A parade of flower girls and bridesmaids presented Angharad to the expectant and excited groom, thrilled to see his stunning wife-to-be as she approached through the venue’s iconic marriage archway and down the aisle.

The rest of the day went by in a flash – as is always the case post ceremony, but not before we explored the many photo opportunities afforded by this venue and its surrounding grounds.  Angharad and Glenn particularly seemed to enjoy the opportunity to step away from their guests for some contemporary portraits.

Point of note, I don’t think I had ever seen so many women gathered to catch a bouquet toss!

Angharad and Glenn opted for all day photo coverage, from bridal preps until just after the first dances.  I presented them with 650 memorable images of their wedding adventure.

Sarah and David wedding at Cooling castle in Rochester

Charming weddings at Cooling Castle Barn in Rochester

By Weddings No Comments

Cooling Castle is among the best known and most popular wedding venues in the Kent region.  This place is super popular for couples who like the charm of a barn venue and I’ve worn my heels here a number of times as a wedding photographer.

Couple: Sarah and David.

Ceremony and reception: Cooling Castle Barn, Main Rd, Rochester ME3 8DT.

Here’s a throwback to their wonderful day. I remember this wedding fondly as Mr and Mrs Mac where and still are one of the most chilled out couples I’ve ever worked with and super loved up with each other – Sarah’s smile has just brimming all day.

Cooling Castle hosted the wedding ceremony in the Fathom Barn and as David waited for his bride, Sarah had a delicate entrance down the wooden staircase to find her father waiting to accompany her down the aisle and onto the stage area.

Of course, the key appeal of his venue is the charming high beamed Tithe barn reception hall, which is just super cosy and rustic with a nice table layout that spills out onto the beer garden Pavilion.  That said, it’s likely many couples are also lured by the neighbouring castle tower backdrop for photos.

Sarah and David are a pair of jet setters, so their table plans where all set to their favourite beaches around the world. I might have been just a little envious of their passport stamps!  Their wedding cake was also on the epic scale.

A beautiful couple, lovely crowd and happy faces in a good place.
