For smaller wedding days and less fuss, The Barn is a charming and intimate venue in Kent worth considering.
Couple: Joanna and Ben
Ceremony and reception: The Barn Pub & Restaurant, 1 Lonsdale Gardens, Mount Pleasant Rd, Tunbridge Wells TN1 1NU
The Barn in the heart of Tunbridge Wells is an established and award-winning wedding venue well known for great food and exceptional value for smaller scale weddings.
From my experience of weddings at The Barn, they really do work hard on the personal touch aspect and are fully supportive of us wedding photographers to get the best possible images.
On this day, Joanna started her bridal preps at the local Royal Wells Hotel. There was a special guest in the room which turned out to be a rather cute family teddy bear from Jo’s childhood. On went the light and natural make-up, a few deep breaths into the wedding dress and this bride-to-be was hype to go.
I made my way over the Barn to meet Ben and guests and catch Joanna arriving with her father. Ben was playing it cool but he was clearly way more nervous than Jo. I reminded him he’d be a married man in less than 30mins and then the day would go by in a flash – not sure it helped.
Post ceremony and drinks I took the couple to the local gardens for some time alone and their couple portraits. Always recommended. Next it was back to the venue and by this point plenty of drinks had the crowd lively (good for photos). First dances followed the speeches and the evening rolled on merrily into happy memories for all.
Candid wedding photography at The Barn
Joanna and Ben booked in for all day Kent wedding photography. I joined Joanna early morning for bridal preps and concluded shortly after guests hit the dancefloor. Here’s a snapshot of the 500 or so images recorded of their big day.
